Working with young smokers
Our Principal Consultant Trainer has over 15 years experience working with smokers and for the last decade has specialised in working with young smokers.
Whether you want to learn how to raise the issue of smoking with young people or conduct a stop smoking group, NRT Direct will develop and deliver a training workshop especially designed to suit your needs.
The workshop, delivered at your site, is based on sound practical experience of setting up and running smoking cessation programmes for young people and can be run as a one-day event or an extended two-day workshop which allows time for in-depth practical and personal exploration of working with this challenging client group. Training is flexible and can also be broken down into half-day sessions if required. Each workshop is tailor-made according to the needs of the participants and can cover a wide variety of topics, including:
- Smoking trends in young people
- What influences young people to smoke?
- What reasons might young people have to stop smoking?
- What skills and qualities are needed when working with adolescent smokers?
- Differences between adult and adolescent smokers
- Smoking health facts for adolescents
- What do young people want from a Stop Smoking Service?
- Motivational skills
- Nicotine Replacement Therapy
